Thing 14: Join the SLACPA and find CPA Island

The MACPA has created a virtual version of itself in Second Life called the Second Life Association of CPAs. The SLACPA is headquartered on a piece of SL property known as CPA Island.

Join the SLACPA
We'd like everyone to join the SLACPA in Second Life. Here's how to do it.

1. Open your SL software and login.
2. At the bottom of the page (below your avatar) are a number of tabs -- "Communicate," "Chat," "Fly," etc. Click the tab that's labeled "Search." (View a screenshot.)
3. A search box will open. Click the tab that's labeled "Groups." (View a screenshot.)
4. Search for SLACPA.
5. Click on the search result labeled "SLACPA." The right side of the search box will display information about the SLACPA, and will include a button that reads "Join (L$0)." (The L$0 means it's free to join this group.) Click the "Join" button. A popup window will ask you if you wish to proceed. Click "Join." (View a screenshot.)

That's it! You are now a member of the Second Life Association of CPAs.

Visit CPA Island
Now that you've joined the SLACPA, it's time to visit our Second Life home -- CPA Island. Here's how.

1. Click the "Search" tab at the bottom of the page again.
2. A search box will open. Click the tab that's labeled "Places."
3. Search for CPA Island. (View a screenshot.)
4. Click on the search result labeled "CPA Island," then click the blue "Teleport" button at the bottom of the search box. (View a screenshot.)

That's all there is to it! Your avatar has been teleported to CPA Island. Feel free to walk (or fly) around the island and check out the buildings we've been constructing there. Go inside the buildings and snoop around.

Important: Now that you're on CPA Island, click on the "World" tab at the top of the page, then click on "Set Home to Here." (View a screenshot.) This will make CPA Island your home in Second Life.

When you're done looking ...
... simply log off Second Life. The next time you logon, your avatar will be on CPA Island.
